Runyon Canyon Park
Here’s how to get here:
Directions By Car: South entrance — Hollywod Fwy (101) to Highland Avenue. South to Franklin Ave. West on Franklin to Fuller, north on Fuller to dead end. Park on street.
By Public Transportation: Take the Red Line to Hollywood and Highland, walk west on Hollywood Blvd to Fuller (approximately 4-ish blocks), then turn right and walk north approximately 2 blocks directly into the park.
By Foot: follow these photo instructions… and also know that we may draw or build arrows on the ground along the way, so keep your eyes alert!
Also – while you’re there, if you feel like getting some extra exercise, you should check out the loop trails. There are some amazing views, and it’s a REALLY good workout. Just bring lots of water and sunscreen. Although our spot is very shady, the loop trails are very exposed.
This is where you can park.... on the street! Parking is very hard to come by, so please carpool! You can also take the redline (metro) to Hollywood and Highland and walk. I'm guessing it's about a 1/2 mile walk.
Here is the Fuller entrance to the park. For the easiest hike and most simple directions, please use this entrance. You can hike up to the beautiful views from the concert location.
Don't forget to bring water! The spot where the concert is - is very shady, but it's still going to be hot - and if you want to do any other hiking, you will DEFINITELY need water (there's no shade on the longer trails). So if you forget to bring water - you can purchase it at this little stand by the gate at Fuller!
Here is the entrance to the park - with all the rules! Please no alcohol! If you have to bring it, be sneaky! Apparently, this park is VERY liberal with their dog policies, so dogs can be off leash in areas. Yay! Oh and NO SMOKING!!! That's even more important than no drinking. I don't want NSP to be responsible for a park burning down.
(Sorry it's sideways, please use your imagination while I figure out how to make it right side up) If you bring a dog, or a water bottle .... here's a good spot to stock up on water. It's also a good little landmark on the trail to show you that you're going the right way.
Blue flowers on your left going up the trail from Fuller (I hope they're in bloom right now...). You're going the right way!
This is the MOST IMPORTANT PICTURE HERE. This is the fork in the road where you can go right or left. There are two trees- the one on the right looks dead while the one on the left looks lush! If you go to the right (the dead tree), you will take the trail up to Inspiration point where there are spectacular views (that's not where we're going, but it's a nice little hike). If you go to the left (towards the lush tree), you will get to the shady area where we will be having the concert.
Continue along the path, and you'll pass these ruins on the left...
There's a rock in the middle of the path. You're on the right trail!
You're there! This is the audience bench. And that is Jon! Jon says "Welcome!"
